THE LODGING

This adventure is a multi day unsupported float trip. Everything that you and Fish Mongolia needs for a week is stowed on rafts and brought with. (However, anglers need to bring their own sleeping bag.) Camping is required and comfortable, with individual or 3-person mountain tents, a dining tent, camp chairs and tables, toilet tent and simple shower. During these multi day trips, Fish Mongolia often includes a layover day mid-trip to spend more time at prime pools and runs. Base camps with gers, (yurts) are set up at the put-in and take-out points. These allow for some space to organize your gear, clean up and spend a night in a bed at each end of the float. Meals are served river side; During your time on the water, fresh campfire brewed coffee along with a hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon, ham and pancakes will be prepared for you. A grilled shore lunch of prime choice steaks or kebab skewers. Then its back on the water to fish. As night settles in you arrive at camps where you will find your tent set up, time to enjoy a beverage and wash up before dinner. Fish Mongolia’s catering is among the best in the country; supplied by Ulaanbaatar’s top gourmet French chef, marinated meat, fresh vegetables and fruit are flown in weekly. Dinner meals include: Roast Pork loin, Dutch-oven Lasagna, Pot Roast, served with soup, salad and deserts. Beer & Red Wine is included in the trip cost.

THE FISHING

Perhaps Mongolia’s best kept fly fishing secret, the Delger River, is home to to Lenok and Grayling but the pre-historic mega-fish ; the Taimen, seems to draw the crowd. World renowned for feeding on small mammals and duckling, and being the world’s largest Salmonid, the Taimen’s aggressive “smash and grab” strike on the surface will leave your heart pounding at the days end. Fish averaging 28-30 inch range are being caught, however anglers have landed fish in excess of 60 inches. Delger river has limited access, so floating down in aluminum frame rafts seem to be the program, while floating & fishing pools are effective, wading with a two-handed rod is a productive way to cover more water and fish the large full bodied flies. (Fish Mongolia has chosen to operate float trips

rather then jet boats as this is more in line with the wildness of the river and doesn’t disturb the local herders.
